SAVY Chair Yoga Teacher Training

Chair Yoga Teacher Training

Yoga with a Chair? What? Yes, yoga using a chair!
For older adults and people of any age with varying degrees of physical limitations, or office-goers, or students, using a chair instead of the traditional mat makes yoga’s amazing overall potential accessible as well as safe.

Older Adults and seniors represent the fastest growing sector of our population and they are increasingly drawn to yoga.  This phenomenon is creating an increasing demand for well-trained yoga teachers. It is essential that yoga teachers learn how to best serve older students and students with limited mobility and/or other concerns. Chair yoga is a great option for older adults/ seniors. Learn this accessible path to fitness through SAVY’s blend of breathing techniques, modified Yoga postures, and other Yoga/ holistic practices.  With your certification, you will gain the necessary skills to guide your students to improved health and well-being.

Why Chair Yoga?

Do you have students, patients, or clients that would benefit from doing Yoga but:

  • cannot get down on the floor because of age, handicap, or inflexibility, or
  • want to practice their Yoga where getting on the floor is impractical (at work, traveling, etc.)

These categories can also now reap the exceptional benefits which yoga brings to the body, mind, and spirit.  Now, you can open this wondrous world to all of them! With this new dimension to your teaching and/or care-giving, this teacher certification will provide you with a firm foundation for teaching Chair Yoga. Along with the normal meditation, breathing, and relaxation techniques, you will learn how to adapt the classical Yoga asanas to the chair (vs. the floor). The goal of Chair Yoga is to meet students where they are at present, identify their problems and help them modify poses. Dr Sahdev’s Principles of Yoga Practice for Yoga Teachers and Therapists are especially more relevant from Yoga point of view.
