A Very Happy SAVY 3rd Anniversary to you from all of us at SAVY! We, at SAVY, celebrate our 3rd Annivarsary and we enter into our 4th year of operation together. We thank you for all the trust and faith you have placed in us and for staying with us!

This is as much your success as it is ours. We have been trying to do our best and bring the best in Yoga to you, and you have been there to recognize, accept and reward our efforts. Thanks for your patience and support! Like everything else around us, SAVY was and is just a concept, our combined expectations and efforts have helped to take it one step further towards a real shape. SAVY has been moving from strength to strength! It has progressed from one to three Studios spread around London. SAVY International Inc is a registered Yoga School with Yoga Alliance and we train aspiring Yoga Teachers up to the highest rank. For those who are interested in adopting Yoga Teaching as a career,  our RYT 200 courses are starting on August 1, 2014 and September 1, 2014 in a 4-week format, and in September, 2014, in a weekend format. We are accepting students for week-end format RYT 200 also, which starts in September, 2014 and January, 2015. Registration is open for all these courses. As an extension of our 3rd Anniversary Celebrations to aspiring Yoga Teachers, we offer all these courses at the most economical rates in North America! We also offer scholarships and bursaries.

DSBH Breathing Educator Program

Alka Masrani is a realtor by profession but her hobbies include learning and practicing healing. She is a certified Hypnotherapist, Reiki Practioner, MPS – Micropoint Stimulation Practioner, and Emotion Code Therapist. It has become her mission to help people HEAL. She looks forward to meeting lot of different people in this field and learning and helping people.

A note from the President’s desk

October, the month of the Halloween, is here. We’ll also be celebrating International Day of Non-Violence and International World Teachers’ Day. In Canada, it is celebrated as Brain Tumor Awareness month too, and we at SAVY will be launching a program for brain tumor care this month. It marks the start of the season of autumn. It’s a very interesting month in the way that in non-leap years, January starts on the same day of the week as October, but no other month starts on the same day of the week as October in leap years. October ends on the same day of the week as February every year and January in non-leap years only. There is much more to this month, but I’ll leave that to you to explore. 😀
In this now very popular Featured SAVY Yogi of the Month series, we present SAVY Yogis who have been learning the right kind of yoga with correct techniques, have done wonderfully well for themselves and are a guiding light and a source of great inspiration for others.
With great pride and pleasure, I introduce another savvy SAVY Yogi – Debbie, this month. Debbie is a real Yogi at heart, as she believes in living in the moment and gives her best to the moment. A very loving and caring person herself, exuding positivity, she has a great attitude and a wonderful aptitude and is a joy to teach and has always been a source of great support and inspiration and a pillar of strength. Her regularly irregular presence in yoga classes, along with Mama Jane’s, 😀  is loaded with fun, focus and dedication. She doesn’t take long in picking up the instruction and her devotion and steadfastness is commendable. Her grit and determination for results is something I would love to ape ASAP.

One Full Sponsorship : 100% of the tuition fee of the selected student will be sponsored

Two 50% Sponsorships : 50% of the tuition fee of two selected students will be sponsored.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

The student:

  1. Must be a citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
  2. Must be registered for full time (12 month) RYT 200 program.
  3. Must be available full time for the bursary academic period.
  4. Must successfully complete a level/ term/ module of full-time study in program with no Fail, Unsatisfactory or Incomplete grades during the most recent level/ term/module.
  5. Students must have an overall score of at least 60% in prior full-time studies.
  6. Can receive full-time scholarship one time only each calendar year (January 01 to December 31).
  7. August 31 is the deadline.
  8. Applications must be received by SAVY office by 4pm on the deadline date.

AWARDS SUBJECT TO CANCELLATION

Students that withdraw, or no longer meet the bursary eligibility criteria may have to forfeit all or part of their award. A cancelled award will be charged against the student’s account.

How to enter Contest?

You have to apply before August 31 of the current year for courses starting after coming January.

Who can enter the contest.

Anybody who has wants to adopt Yoga teaching as a career. 

  • Step 1: Applicants must register first. Please check eligibility and other details on RYT 200 page
  • Step 2: Write a letter to the administrator explaining why you are the best candidate for scholarship. Make this letter as clear, concise and informative as possible. Please enlist all your achievements:
    • Awards: Formal recognition for something (honour roll, student of the year, an award for your extracurricular activities)
    • Clubs: What clubs at school were you involved in? Include school plays, school newspaper and yearbook committee contributions, as well as any religious youth groups where you are a member.
    • Co-op Jobs: Describe your co-op opportunity and be sure to list what you’ve learned from the experience.
    • International Exchanges: Did you travel abroad during school to study or volunteer? What did you learn about the culture?
    • Part-Time Jobs: Don’t knock part-time jobs because you can explain your experiences and highlight your skills through these opportunities.
    • Projects: Did you work on any large projects you are particularly proud of?
    • Scholastic Achievement: Any subjects you have excelled in.
    • School Associations: Involvement with your school music council or athletic association. 
    • Sports: Your position on the school team. Skills you learned
    • Student Government: Were you the president, secretary, treasurer, vice-president, class representative, or grade representative?
    • Volunteer work at school
    • Volunteer work out of school
    • Your activities related to Yoga

     

    • Letter for Scholarship should be accompanied by a 3-minute video which answers :
      • who you are
      • what you currently do
      • how long you have been doing yoga
      • if you know any yoga poses
      • if you have done any yoga training before
      • why you want to take Yoga as a career
      • what difference yoga can make in your life
      • how is training at SAVY going to make a difference
      • what karma (volunteer) activities you want to offer at SAVY Studios
      • what are you plans after you complete your training
    • Submit the video at SAVY Studio. 
    • You will also need to submit a thorough and detailed outline for the karma project you intend to implement in an effort to share yoga with more and more people.  SAVY may also suggest various opportunities for participation.
  • Step 3: You’ll be required to attend personal interview(s).
  • Step 4: Completion of Enrollment process.

Sukshma Yoga-The Yoga for Everyone, or Subtle Yoga  is one of the most ancient and relatively little known form of Yoga. This is ‘The Yoga for Everyone’!

Sukshma Yoga can make you relax within a few minutes. Its effect penetrates subtle levels at the physical, mental and spiritual levels. This consists of gentle stretching and coordinated breathing, and breathing exercises, that result in deep relaxation. It includes easy exercises for the eyes, tongue and jaws, neck, hands, feet, knees, ankles and hips. In Sukshma Yoga the whole body, from head to toe, is treated, relaxed and rejuvenated. These exercises also stimulate, balance and energise the Marma points and Chakras. External and internal body parts undergo deep transformation in this type of Yoga. These are scientific exercises that not only make us strong and supple, but also help remove impurities from the body and improve the memory, concentration and will-power.

Sukshma Yoga routine includes more of those physical yogic movements which almost all of the people would be able to do. Hasta mudras or hand postures are also included. These classes are suitable even for those who have not done any form of yoga or exercise before and are afraid of trying yogic postures. The good thing about yoga is that there is something for everybody regardless of body weight, physical limitations/strength or flexibility. With the regular practice of those gentle movements you would be amazed to see how the yoga practice is helping you not only in making a difference in your lives but also helping in overcoming so many health issues. Regular practice of this type of Yoga ensures a long and healthy life.

Your Yoga Teacher Trainer – Dr Jitender K Sahdev E-RYT 500, RCYT, RPYT, D.Sc., Ph.D.,MD, MBBS, Fellow in Surgery and Surgical Oncology, is a Yoga Therapist /Yoga Teacher in London with over 37,000 hours of Traditional Yoga teaching experience. A Surgeon by profession from India, he utilizes Yoga as a complementary therapy for optimizing the health and wellness of his participants and for easing symptoms of pain and tightness associated with disease. He trained under doyens of Yoga in India for almost four decades. He is a Yoga Therapist in Canada.
